Job Description
We are growing. Our newly created Employee Relations Manager role will facilitate and manage employee relations on behalf of the company by providing support and guidance to management and employees for employee relation matters. This role will:

  • Handle routine employee relation matters; serve as the initial contact and liaison for intake and assessment of questions and concerns; provide guidance and recommendation for resolution of issues.
  • Counsel employees and supervisors on concerns related to applicable Equal Employment Opportunity laws including Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in
  • Employment Act, and other similar federal and state laws.
  • Assist managers and supervisors in understanding and implementing company policies related to performance, discipline, and related topics.
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to field management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Conduct, interview, and gather information for employee relations matters such as harassment allegations, work complaints, or other concerns; conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Recommend, create, and implement policies and procedures for employee relations matters such as investigations, disciplinary, termination, leave and accommodations. Ensure accurate record keeping that follows company policy and legal compliance.
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws and legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Recommend best practices.
  • Assist with recordkeeping related to hiring, termination, leave, transfer, and promotion particularly as related to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), affirmative action, and diversity initiatives.
  • Provide support to field locations, as needed, for unemployment claims processing by ensuring accurate and timely processing of claims. Assist locations in their response including supporting documentation and consultation for unemployment hearings as needed.
  • Support the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, including exempt and non-exempt roles; support job fairs, and job training and retention programs.

  • Thorough understanding of state, federal, and local laws concerning employment and labor relations.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable employment laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization’s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, employment practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 to 4 years of experience resolving complex employee relations issues.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential or ability to obtain certification within one year of employment preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to travel, as needed by car, train, or airplane.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
