Marshall Hotels & Resorts is seeking a proven SMERFE Sales Manager at the newly renovated Heritage Hotel, Golf, Spa and Conference Center located in Southbury, CT.

The SMERFE Sales Manager is responsible for growing overall revenue and profitability, while maximizing customer satisfaction from pre-event planning through post-event phases of service. Solicit new and repeat business through a proactive sales approach that incorporates consultative selling skills.   • Solicit and secure business for hotel through a proactive, consultative sales approach and utilize Hotel’s sales process
  • Utilize an understanding of costs associated with sales, including labor, commission and equipment outsourcing (i.e. audio, visual, lighting, etc) and work within established profitability guidelines
  • Utilize current software systems (Delphi), marketing tools and standard documents
  • Implement and update hotel marketing tools as needed
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key hotel personnel and meet client needs through attending client meetings, creating and maintaining organized show files and responding to client concerns, questions and problems
  • Assist with reporting as necessary on a weekly/monthly basis
  • Provide operational support during shows, driving sales programs with team members and conduct training as needed

  • Prior full service hotel sales experience required

Experience in the SMERF Market as well as with Kosher groups a plus

  • Resort and Large Conference background preferred
  • Knowledge of Delphi FDC
  • Knowledge of and have worked with CMP and DMP
  • Complete required Sales Reports
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel if needed
  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Basic computer skills: Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed
  • The ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • All other duties as assigned


  • 4 years of sales or hospitality experience
  • Prior sales experience required
  • Knowledge of hospitality industry and sales processes
  • Ability to read and decipher financial reports and records
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to assist in writing a marketing plan
